Silent
That is all I can be
The innocence being swept away
Like useless trash on a dirty floor
They say “Speak for what is right.”
But speaking kills you in this lifetime
This window offers nothing inviting
Instead it displays the horrific catastrophe
These times are deadly
I’ll stay silent
Because this is all I can be
Sobs from new lives
Fires from the gunmen capturing innocent souls
Even the most sound-proof of walls
Cannot restrain the sounds of terror
In every scream
The leader
A heartless
Venomous
Un-merciful
Leader
I am shamed by the land I call home
This
All of this somber sorrow
Will meet its demise
I want to speak!
.. When will I speak?
They say “Speak for what is right.”
And so I will speak
Even if it kills me in this lifetime
