Justin Newson Grade 8
A son who wishes that he had a relationship with his father. No conversation, no acknowledgement, and no love lost. The crying son is not crying for himself, but for his father. You will never know what an awesome son I am; you will never get to know my inner thoughts, my likes and dislikes, my favorite foods, my hobbies, my favorite colors. You will never know me! You pushed me away for years. How? By not spending quality time with me? Not showing me what a man should be or how a man should act? How I should treat a woman? How I should respect and talk to a woman? Plain and simple - how I should be a gentleman. One day you will regret not having a relationship with me. When I make something out of my life and be successful, please don't try to be my dad then because it will be too late. I've tried to have that father and son relationship, but I'm done with trying. Being a Dad is much more than just being there physically being there. You also have to be there mentally and emotionally for your son. Take time to do things together like hanging out in front of the TV, eating snacks, playing games. But the most important thing is to open the lines of communication, so that your son will feel comfortable coming to you to talk about any and everything. It involves the transition from being someone who was selfish to one who is selfless. Being a dad is knowing that as your son, I'm watching and listening to everything you do say. ANY MAN CAN BE A DAD BUT IT TAKES A REAL MAN TO BE A FATHER!!!
