Nature's Child
Mackenzie White
Grade 7
I am glad I am not an insignificant ant
Somberly laboring away on obligatory work
One of the colony
A pretty prisoner to the queen
I am glad I am not a watchful eye
No flicker of hope, a vigilant soul
How brilliant not to be the cresent moon
Cold and alone among the gleaming, iridescent stars
I am blissful like a daisy
Waltzing in the crisp spring breeze
I am brisk like a flag
Snapping in the fresh autumn air
I am free like an eagle
Soaring over thriving green forests
I am the melodic laugh of a child
A wave of reassuring wellness
I am the inexplicable essence of life
Puzzling
Mystifying
