Wolf Pup and Nestling
Grace Birch
Grade 7
Wolf Pup was always told to stay in the pack and play with his brothers and sisters. However, Wolf Pup wanted more. One morning, Wolf Pup snuck out of the den and ventured into the forest until finally he found Nestling.
"Hello Nestling," Wolf Pup howled. Nestling saw him and tried to fly away.
" Hey wait up, I'm coming too," said Wolf Pup. Wolf Pup bounded up to Nestling, but Nestling wanted nothing to do with him.
"Back... back away Wolf Pup, you wouldn't like me, I'm very scrawny and boney... you should go away now," Nestling squawked.
"What are you talking about?" questioned Wolf Pup, "I just want to be friends."
"That... That will never work."
And with that, Nestling flew away.
Full of disapiontment, Wolf Pup returned home, his tail sagging. When he walked into the den, his siblings surrounded him.
"Come on Wolf Pup, come play!" they hollered in harmony.
Wolf Pup grinned and followed his brothers and sisters into the den.
