First Time Meeting My Little Brother

Emily Miles

Grade 8

When most people talk about their first time doing or trying somthing they usually end up liking it, then doing it again. That wasn't the case for me. So, my dad's girlfriend had just had a baby, my new little brother. I was not looking forward to seeing him. He was the new baby, not me. I was jealous when I saw everyone crowding around him as if he was some grand prize. I wanted to punch my fist though a wall.

When I saw him I couldn't tell what the big deal was. All I saw was an ugly looking alien thing. As I stepped closer, the smell of throw up illuminated the room. They put him in my arms as if I was expected to like him. Well that wasn't going to happen, not with the way he smelled.

But suddenly his alien face looked a little cute, his little hands wrapped around my pinky finger. It was then I realized why everyone liked him so much. The kid was cute. Our cute moment was disrupted by the smell of baby vomit growing stronger.

I failed to realize that the smell was coming from me. He had thrown up on me. It was more disgusting than my mom's cooking. And let me tell you, that it is pretty bad. As if nothing had happened, he smiled at me. I didn't like this kid anymore.
